Free My Lock, a locksmith in Fort Lauderdale FL, fired Thumbtack today….and for 2 good reasons:
1 – They don’t qualify their customers.
2 – They don’t qualify their suppliers.
Let us explain in further detail why locksmith services are hard to match:
As a supplier, we don’t want to be associated with a company that doesn’t do the proper qualifications for a business that specializes in locksmith services: this puts us on the same category as every other locksmith in fort lauderdale florida.
As a supplier, we don’t want to be associated with a company that doesn’t do the proper qualifications on customer’s ready to buy locksmith services in fort lauderdale: this brings us no business.
They sure did lure us in to try them out for a small investment of $50….What we learned is that we lost $38.
How it all works:
We signed up as a supplier, and added our a profile.
We were immediately listed on their site and became one of the “10 Best Locksmiths in Fort Lauderdale, FL”: This is how they advertise, not how we advertise, see snapshot taken on July 16, 2015:
This was very surprising as all we needed to do was sign up and make sure we quoted people, then the people would automatically assume we were one of the 10 Best Locksmiths In Fort Lauderdale. Frankly, we believe we are the Best Locksmith Locksmith in Fort Lauderdale, and our Google Reviews are the determining factor….Just type in Locksmith Fort Lauderdale, Go To Google Maps, and you will be able to see we have the most Reviews (as of today) and the highest rating.
What happens then is a customer will request a locksmith service, and Thumbtack will send us a notice.
We will bid on it, and submit a bid for about 3-4 credits. Every credit is $1.
We bid on about 12 jobs, 2 were refunded because the customer cancelled the service. We never got any business, and we bid low just to test the service.
We are disappointed that another marketing company that wants to stay on page 1 of google has found a way to fund their empire…..but the only way to stop it is not to fund it.
[polldaddy poll=8983926]So we asked for a refund, but we never got a full refund. We were only refunded for credits we did not use. Unfortunately for us, we got had, but the overall penalty was a low $38 spent out of $50. We feel we should receive a full refund because this service is not good for the customers or the sellers.
